The Rega Institute is too lit 🔥

By the end of 2019 the WG Energy accomplished two actions.

Firstly, they contacted the Energy Coordinator of the building to gain insight into the energy consumption and energy costs of the building. These data showed a significant decrease of energy use during lunch time. These data will also allow us to find and implement improvements for decreased energy usage.

Secondly, WG Energy performed an energy inventory of all equipment in the lab. In total 960 appliances are currently being used and use 1 348 360 kWh/year. There is a very high continuous consumption, but an average drop of 20 kWh is daily seen around lunch time. These data suggest that turning off lights and/or equipment does affect the total consumption.

Moreover, research was done regarding solar panels. Solar panels are not possible on top of the Rega Institute due to other equipment present on the roof. Roofs of auditoria on the GHB campus are planned to receive solar panels in 2020.
